The River is fairly simple. If you have the best hand either by playing the good starting hands early or by the luck of the draw on the river it is now your final chance to get a few more chips from your opponents. Some players will check here hoping that someone with a lesser hand will try and steal the pot, only to come over the top of them if a huge bet. This is a tactic I use quite often when I know there is someone there who will bet on the hope to steal the pot. If you are planning to try to steal the pot because you have not made your hand or you have a hand but you think it may be beating, be careful and only do it occasionally. If you going to doing it on a regular basis, you will be called and your chip stack will gradually dwindle way.
